homesickness

I don't feel homesick very often but today as I was riding my bike to work in the rain and wind and hail and a branch that was hanging over the bike path whipped me in the face, I missed my home in Canada.

I miss the comforts of my house, the convenience of owning a vehicle,  my friendly neighborhood and my trusted circle of friends.
I miss being able to express myself and articulate what I am thinking and feeling and being able to understand everything around me.
I miss being able to afford things and being qualified for higher paid employment.
I miss my Zumba and yoga classes and my book club.
I miss my family that is still in Canada.
I miss a lot of things.

On the bright side... Rus and Dean will be back here in 13 days!

farewell to friends

We had so much fun with the Murphy family and have made some great memories together. This morning, we said goodbye to them as they got on the train back to Copenhagen for their flight to London. They will be staying in London for a few days before heading back to Canada.

goodbye Megan, see you in July!

Flensburg again

Our friends wanted to go to Germany quickly too while visiting us so we took a one hour train across the border to Flensburg. I have gotten so used to paying Danish prices that I was so excited by how much cheaper everything was. I hadn't noticed it as much the first time we went. This time I knew what to stock up on.

Unfortunately,  all the museums are closed on Mondays but we saw a few things that I didn't see the last time we went.

Malmö

A happy reunion between Freya and Megan last night.

Went to Malmö, Sweden today because it's just a short train ride from Copenhagen. Liam joined us from Århus and we all spent the day at a couple of museums, one of them located in Malmö castle.

My brother met us after work, brought us to see his little swanky apartment and fed us some Italian style pizza. His project with Ikea is almost done so we won't be seeing him again for awhile.
